I am writing today as we return from another successful Smoky Mountains / Savannah, GA road trip with our Model 3 and Tesla makes a change to its impressive supercharging network that could massively change the sustainable energy landscape.
We recently took a trip through the Smoky Mountains to our destination in Georgia. We only queued up once for a Supercharger station during our entire drive. It was in Hardeeville, SC (V3 250kW).

We opted for a super short charge because of the line and conveniently there was another charger at Hilton Head Island so we could get more juice at our destination, so no worries.
Faster charging not only keeps the cars moving, but a nice selection of options also keeps people from staying longer at the already congested chargers. It is more efficient to arrive at the nearest fast charger at 10-20%, as the charging speed drops once you have charged over 50%.
We arrived at the Hilton Head Supercharger and didn’t meet anyone during our entire session, so the line must have been on the way home or South / North Carolina or decided to charge to 80-90% at that location. Maybe some ate at the Waffle House?

The following is an example of our experience at the same charger station on our road trip, which was shared with another vehicle.
I hope you enjoyed my photos. Stay tuned for more great adventures!
