Both USB hubs feature Snug fit & Tesla factory-installed feel builds.

Both utilize both USB ports and stay secure via a magnetic lid.

The TAPTES USB hub features a total of four front facing USB ports (three USB-A and 1 USB-C), whereas the Jeda USB Hub also features four however it’s two USB-A and two USB-C. This is one of the main differences I have researched between these two different Tesla products.

They both feature similar designs which allow you to hide-away an SSD or other tiny storage device away for the purpose of storing your Dashcam and/or Sentry Mode footage.

Compatible SSDs:

As of this writing, there isn’t a way to view the recorded footage through the infotainment screen however it seems this is about to change soon as a reported Tweet reports it’s coming! We are getting a Dashcam Viewer in a future update! It appears to display the front image with the side and back cameras being shown in the corner of the display.

Update: With the latest software it is now possible to review your dashcam footage from the infotainment screen, as well as see when the event occurred and the ability to delete your false positive clips.

September 10, 2020: I updated images with NEW edition of each USB Hub.

2. Built after June 2020 + ALL Model Y’s

Does your Model 3 have a USB C and USB A port? You will want to purchase their NEW USB hub.

Jeda have stepped up their product on the new Model 3 + Model Y variant. It features a total of 6 USB ports: two front USB-A ports for video game controllers, wireless charging, audio, etc, two type-c ports and 1 additional USB-A ports hidden inside the hub, whereas the TAPTES features a total of 5 USB ports.

3. TAPTES vs Jeda: Quality

While both products appear to look identical. The internals are very different between these brands. I have found reports of users of the TAPTES hub running into issues with slow data rates, USB port failures and issues with the dashcam feature of the Model 3 or Model Y.

I recommend the Jeda product due to this issue and it being the original USB hub for the Tesla Model 3&Y. You spent what $35-60K+ on your Tesla Model 3 OR Model Y?, why not invest in a equally quality built USB Hub instead of a USB splitter?

It’s just not worth the risk of damaging your car to save a little bit of money. Jeda also copies over 1000 hours of Sentry Mode footage to make sure your product is stable and works properly in your Model 3. If something was to happen on your commute to work, you can relax knowing your footage will be saved properly to your durable USB drive.

5. Jeda Hub Notes (9/10/2020 Update)

I wanted to include this extra information in regards to the Jedi Hub as far how things are wired together so you are aware. Read below to learn more about the construction of the newest revision of the Jeda Hub.

Port 1 – Passthrough to Tesla Port 1
Port 2 – USB hub to Tesla Port 2
Port 3 – Extension of USB hub
Port 4 – Extension of USB hub
Port Hidden – Extension of USB hub

So if you plug multiple power hungry devices like a wireless charging pad in any combination of Ports 2,3,4 you will get issues. You need to plug 1 side of the wireless charging pad to Port 1, and the other in any of the combinations.

Credit goes to Jedi2155 from Tesla Motors Club.

This was the case with the Jeda v1 from this users experience however this has changed with the newest revision of the Jeda USB Hub. The hub now has two different hubs (instead of one and pass-through) and both internal hubs are connected to the the USB ports in the Tesla Model 3. They have also greatly enhanced the power delivery and data speeds on all hub ports.

This user also notes the Jeda spacer still allows a docking option for the wireless pad vs the TAPTES which won’t fix a phone like the Note 10+ with a thick case. So if you have a larger phone you are better off with the Jeda configuration.
