How to Sell on Woocommerce With Print-on-Demand Drop Shipping

Print-on-Demand is a well-known and popular business model for e-commerce shops. It is so popular that there are other successful online shops that use the same business model but on different platforms.

The concept works in the same way, no matter what platform, but I have found Printful is one of the easiest ways to set up a print shop because it has its own, easy-to-use WordPress plugin that integrates seamlessly with WooCommerce.

In this tutorial I will teach you how to do POD drop shipping by using WooCommerce with Printful (a print on demand canvas, t-shirt and hoodie printing service).

I use WooCommerce + Printful for my print shop and it’s been working well since I started a few years ago, so I thought I’d share with you how I set it up.

Nowadays, it’s getting harder and harder to get your hands on great products at fair prices. However, when you use Printful, you can take full advantage of their fantastic product catalogue at low wholesale prices.

I recommend signing up for Rocket.net because all of their plans include pre-installed WordPress and all you need to add is the free WooCommerce and Printful plug-ins.

The STARTER plan for a single website costs $25-30 a month, depending on whether you pre-pay for a year or pay monthly. With my referral link, your first month is $1!

  1. Install WordPress (your blogging platform)
  2. Select and install a free / affordable theme or twentytwenty theme

You can now start to think about how you’re going to make your first $1 online.

Now let’s set up our ecommerce platform.

Printful + WooCommerce

Next we will integrate Printful with WooCommerce (WordPress).

  1. Install the Printful WooCommerce Plugin
  2. Log in and follow the on-boarding install prompts.
    • Add products to your store
    • Set up shipping and taxes
    • That’s it! 🙂

Install the Printful WooCommerce Plugin

It’s easiest to just log-in to your WordPress Admin Dashboard first. Usually yourwebsite.com/wp-admin!

Alternately, you can download from the WordPress website but this accomplishes the same result.

  1. Head over to: Plugins => Add New
  2. By Keyword: Type in (“Printful Integration for WooCommerce“)
  3. Last, activate the plugin through (Plugins > Installed Plugins) in WordPress.

Find and click on “Printful” from the list within the WordPress Admin. Click the “Connect” button or add your Printful API key manually to Printful->Settings tab

Then go to (Printful >Settings) tab and check ‘Calculated for all products shipped to states where Printful applies sales tax’.

Add products to your store

Login into your Printful account.

  1. Stores > Add product
  2. Pick your product
    • Colors
    • Sizes
  3. Add your design

From there, you can write your description, select your images and price, and then automatically send this product to your WooCommerce storefront.

Set up shipping and taxes

These settings need to be setup within your WordPress / WooCommerce plugin. 🙂

Enable shipping rate calculation in (WooCommerce >Settings >Shipping->Printful Shipping).

To automatically calculate taxes please check (Enable taxes and tax calculations) under WooCommerce Tax settings.

That’s it! 🙂

You should see your products listed on your website and if someone places an order, Printful will fulfill it completely and you can focus on attracting more customers and creating the coolest designs or prints.

Your website will charge the customer via your preferred credit card processor: Paypal, Stripe etc… and Printful will charge you for your print-on-demand order. You keep the difference!
