If you haven’t read my other post there is a helpful tip on quickly getting the navigation app to take you home: Great Hidden Features for Traveling with Your Tesla.
Plug in the address you want to go to, and it can automatically add Superchargers along the way to get you to your destination without running low on battery.
I have a feeling it’s a legal issue but it would be really interesting to add a way to report, speed-traps, accidents and/or any other road hazards for other drivers. I imagine the cars could detect and share many of these sightings automatically on the Tesla network in the future, but I understand that there are other higher priorities like getting full self driving to level five vs avoiding the skunk in the middle of your lane
Find where you want to go on a website or app and want to share it with your car? With the Tesla app installed on your Android phone, you are able to share address information with your car so when you jump in your car, the navigation has the address pre-loaded when you’re ready to embark on your journey. Super slick!
What about when you’re heading towards a Supercharger and the station fills up at the last moment while you are navigating? How about a notification, ETA or suggestion to navigate to a different charging station which is nearby? I could also see a queue being added especially in Madison, Wisconsin where the local taxi company, Green Cab is acquiring 40 new Tesla Model 3 cars. Once completed, the move will make Green Cab the first taxi company in the county to operate a fleet of only full electric vehicles. Madison, has a total of 11 spots which are located on the east side:
- East Towne Mall – 3 Superchargers, up to 120kW
- Hy-Vee – 8 Superchargers, , up to 150kW
There doesn’t appear to be any new locations in construction at this point and the East Towne Mall location’s lease appears to be ending around Feb 2020.
I would really love to see the ability to add multiple stops to the navigation system with Supercharging. I find myself loading up Google Maps on a regular basis when I have multiple stops to determine the most efficient order, otherwise I have to enter each stop individually. After conducting some research, I found that Tesla has a patent pending for this feature and another enhancement which could help Tesla before they build out the Supercharging Network furthermore!
Per cleantechnica, Tesla filled a patent on some interesting new navigation upgrades giving drivers more options which looks very useful. I would love to see the option to start seeing ChargePoint chargers in my navigation options.
Heavy foot? Blasting the AC or heat? Driving over 75MPH? We may start to see the navigation factor these conditions and warn you that you might not make it to your destination unless you make more efficient choices!
