In this video I have footage from my trip to Iceland.

After a photography workshop on the ring road, I drove to the Snaefellsjokull/Snæfellsjokull National Park, located on the Snaefellsnes/Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

When I stopped at a gas station before entering the park, I was told to avoid this drive, but I did it anyway. I am so glad I did it! There were so few people around!

What an amazing place to explore! In one of the clips, you can see snow blocking the road!

Just for this video, I purchased this track by Rameses B featuring poet Alan Watts via Lickd.

Location details

The Snaefellsnes Peninsula is a beautiful, remote area located in western Iceland. This region is known for its dramatic landscapes, rolling hills, lava fields, and black sand beaches. The highlight of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula is undoubtedly Mount Snaefellsjokull, a 700-meter glaciated volcano that dominates the landscape. Visitors to this area can enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, and whale watching.

The peninsula is also home to a number of interesting geological features, including lava fields, crater lakes, and geothermal areas. And because it’s located close to Reykjavik, it’s a popular destination for day trips and weekend getaways.

The Snæfelsnes Peninsula is home to one of the most amazing lighthouses in all of Europe. With its fluorescent orange color and incredible views, it’s no wonder that this place has been ranked so highly on many lists for travel enthusiasts!

Snæfellsjökull National Park is the main feature of this sub-glacial volcano, which can be seen across Faxaflói Bay from Reykjavík on clear days. It has inspired artists and writers for centuries; most famously it was the primary setting in Jules Verne’s ‘A Journey to The Centre Of The Earth’ as well as Halldór Laxness book Christianity Beneath His Glacier’.

Along with glaciers , waterfalls, mountains, lava fields , hot springs and beaches Icelandic tourism is rapidly becoming an industry driven by outdoor activities . It’s no surprise that an increasing number of individuals are choosing to go on tours such as glacier hikes climbing , super jeep safaris and kayaking. All of these activities require a certain level of understanding and care if they are to be carried out safely and within the boundaries allowed by the environment and weather conditions.

Beyond its impact upon these authors who have chronicled their adventures here through literature Snaeffellsoykull also provides thrill seekers with an opportunity to experience nature at her finest by allowing them access into oneits many trails both old favorites such , glaciers hikers or super jeepers alike will find themselves in awe of this national park, which has become a major tourist attraction not only for its beauty but also for the history and culture it provides.

Svörtuloft Lighthouse is a magnificent structure that stands tall on the westernmost part of Snæfelsnes Peninsula. It features spectacular views and an intriguing color, making it worth seeing for those who want to take their chances with adventure!
